West Brom have reportedly made Peterborough striker Ivan Toney a target for ahead of next season, whether they’re a Premier League club or not.

Football Insider has reported that Slaven Bilic is eager to add a new centre-forward to his squad ahead of next season and 24-year-old Toney has emerged on his radar.

Toney has scored 26 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for Peterborough this season, and that has led to Posh director of football Barry Fry saying he wants a huge £15million for the ex-Newcastle striker.

Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic and Rangers are also said to be interested in Toney.

We asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans for their thoughts on seeing the club being liked with Toney and here is what they had to say:

As you can see, the panel have had varying views on West Brom’s reported interest in Toney.

One of the main concerns is that the 24-year-old is not proven at a level above League One.

Toney’s been prolific at London Road this season but going from the third-tier to the Premier League is such a huge leap without proving yourself in the Championship first.

If the Baggies, somehow, miss out on promotion then Toney could be a good target for them to pursue.

But there’s no way the club would risk spending such a huge amount on him when the financial climate of football is going to be so different in the next transfer window.

In other West Brom news, this Albion forward has been tipped to leave on loan in the summer.
