West Brom could really announce their intent in the Premier League by making an eye-catching signing or two this summer.

The Baggies have endured a two-year absence from the top flight, but now that they’re back, you can bet that Slaven Bilic will want to send out a message to his rivals by bolstering his squad to the best of his capability.

And one man who looks as if he could be a genuine target for Albion in the coming weeks is Croatian international defender Domagoj Vyda.

The 2018 World Cup finalist is understood to be a £6.3 million target for the Baggies, with Turkish outlet Sabah now reporting the Albion are in “pole position” to land the 31-year-old Besiktas star.

And it’s not as if signing him would be any kind of walk in the park either.

The report also states that Vida has a host of top European clubs chasing his signature too.

Roma, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Sevilla, Monaco and Lyon are all said to be keeping tabs on the centre-back.

But what a statement of intent it would be if the Baggies could go out and snap up a 79-cap international from under the noses of some of Europe’s elite clubs.

Kevin Phillips has already made it very clear to West Brom News that he believes a new centre-back should be a top priority for Bilic this summer, and what better way to announce your return to the top flight than by bringing in a player who has played in the Champions League and a World Cup final?

This would be a serious coup for the Baggies, and the club should really do their utmost to try and push it through.

In other West Brom news, fans have said it’s “Berahino all over again” after this player update was announced.
