West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has been charged with improper conduct by the FA.

This follows his on-field remonstration with Mike Dean at half time of the Baggies’ loss to Everton this weekend, which resulted in Bilic being sent off.

BBC Sport football reporter Simon Stone has stated on Twitter that the West Brom boss has until Thursday to respond to the FA’s charge.

Bilic was complaining to Dean about decisions made in the first half, following Kieran Gibbs being sent off, and VAR getting involved in Everton’s equalising goal.

The Baggies Boss then had to watch the remainder of the game from the stands of Goodison Park, as he saw his side equalise through a stunning Matheus Pereira free-kick, before Everton took advantage of the extra man and won 5-2.

West Brom were very much in the game until Dean showed a red card to Kieran Gibbs, which will have been frustrating for Bilic, as the Baggies failed to pick up any points at the second time of asking this season.

While no one will argue that Gibbs shouldn’t have received his marching orders, Bilic’s dismissal was more controversial.

He wasn’t allowed in the tunnel to speak to Dean, due to the Premier League’s coronavirus guidelines, meaning he had to speak to the referee on the pitch.

Some West Brom fans have criticised Mike Dean, while others have questioned the consistency of the FA applying their punishments, with other managers not being reprimanded for seemingly similar incidents.

Here are how some Baggies fans reacted to Bilic’s charge on social media:

It remains to be seen how Slaven Bilic will be punished, with the manager facing a fine or potentially a touch-line ban.

  1. It is a fact now a days to see some referees to try to be seen as stars . I good referee is one that is hardly seen/heard in a match , they now try to upscale the players . I would say that Mike Dean is the opposite of this , he is very prominent in every match .He is one that competes with the players .I think what we need is a points system for all referees & assistant referees that can be seen by everyone , it is done for every player so why are they so different?
I watched the Baggies in the Championship , what i saw was some really bad decisions , it was also true that the assistants like in the Premier wary of flagging for a lot on these decisions that were within their eyesight .The only thing they do flag for id off side . Again in the Championship they could not keep up with play . I sit in line with the penalty line so i see all . One assistant was relying of the tv to gauge offsides , also some were guessing .It is true that players are now strong/faster if they are not up to the challenge maybe some sort of technology , like a low roving monitor should be used . They are used in some localities , i cannot see any reason why these could not be rolled out nation wide .These would be a aid to these assistants & Not a replacement to them

  2. They will do everything they can to get us relegated. The ref stinks.. The premier league authorities STINK. No way would they do this to Jurgen Klopp in identicle circumstances.

Cowards and Bullies the lot of them.

Let’s hope the ref in questions gets a career ending injury. Nothing too serious just serious enough to stop him. No one wants this arrogant fool referreing any game at any level.
