'Shock horror', 'World's gone mad' - Many West Brom fans react to E&S striker update
West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that their side are out of the running to sign Bournemouth striker Josh King.
According to a report from the Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi, the Baggies will not push head with their mooted interest in the Norway international because they are not willing to match his £90,000-a-week wage demands.
Instead, it is expected that Albion will complete a deal for either Troy Deeney, Andre Gray, or Karlan Grant before the domestic transfer window shuts next month.
And the general consensus among fans is that even though King would have been a good addition to Slaven Bilic’s squad, he is not worth forking out such a hefty wage packet for.
We would be inclined to agree too.
Money has been conspicuously tight at The Hawthorns this summer, and it would be both out of character and entirely outside of the realms of financial logic if Albion were suddenly able to find such a large amount of money for a player like King.
The fact remains, however, that we need a striker, and if he’s not on the cards, then it is absolutely vital that West Brom get a deal over the line somewhere else.
Thankfully, Masi seems relatively confident that an agreement will be struck at some point, but the fact that it is still unclear as to whether it will be Deeney, Gray, or Grant does little to settle the nerves – especially when they are trio who embody largely disparate playing styles.
Whether it be the pace of Grant or the blunt aggression of Deeney though, we need a hitman, and we need one sharpish.
Here are some of the best tweets from West Brom fans:

Deeney would be a good signing, obviously we'd all like grant, king isn't worth £90,000 a week
