West Brom have been linked with a January move to sign Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho and it is a move that would delight many supporters.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Albion have discussed a potential move to sign the Real Betis player.

The Sun have also credited Portuguese side Benfica with an interest in the 28-year-old midfielder.

Carvalho was once tipped for big things in the European game, but he is now expected to move on from the La Liga side.

All the way back in 2017, the Daily Star reported that Pep Guardiola was close to signing the player for Manchester City in a £25million deal.

It is indicative of the way that midfielder’s career has gone, as he continues to struggle with injury problems in Spain.

Since joining Betis during the 2018/19 season, Carvalho has missed an astonishing 39 games through injury, according to Transfermarkt.

Before you even consider the potential cost of a deal to sign the Portuguese international, such an injury record would make him a huge risk for Albion – who will need consistency from all of their January additions as they battle against relegation.

The club have already brought in Robert Snodgrass this month, but Sam Allardyce will be fully aware of the importance of getting more bodies through the doors.

These West Brom supporters have been reacting to the rumours online and many would still be delighted to see him arrive at The Hawthorns this month.

In other West Brom news, the club are reportedly in talks to sign in-form centre-forward in January swoop
