Ivanovic, Robson-Kanu, Grosicki and Peltier all set to exit West Brom
West Brom are ready to release a number of players when their contracts expire in the summer in order to free up some of the wage bill, according to Sunday People journalist Neil Moxley.
Writing in the latest print edition of the Sunday People [April 25], Moxley reported that Hal Robson-Kanu, Branislav Ivanovic, Kamil Grosicki and Lee Peltier are all set to exit The Hawthorns at the end of the season.
With Ivanovic, it is understood he won’t be offered a new deal regardless of what division Albion are playing in next season and the same goes for Robson-Kanu, Grosicki and Peltier.
Bye-bye, Hal
It’s been a long five years since Tony Pulis signed Robson-Kanu on transfer deadline day in August 2016.
It was a truly underwhelming signing at the time as he’d been released by Reading and pretty made a name for himself weeks earlier with a Cruyff Turn at the European Championships.
Since then, the Welsh international has scored 22 goals in 150 total appearances for West Brom.
He is a striker.
Robson-Kanu played big role in Albion winning promotion last season as he notched his greatest goalscoring return for a season by hitting 10 goals in his 39 Championship outings.
As we head back into the Championship, it seems the club is finally ready to get rid of a forward who’s kind of summed up the inadequacy at The Hawthorns since Guochuan Lai took control in the same summer HRK arrived in the Black Country.
Robson-Kanu hasn’t done a lot wrong really. He’s just never been good enough and he has given us some good moments.
But we simply cannot settle for players who just are not good enough anymore.
