Update on Dara O'Shea injury expected today
West Brom fans grimaced on Wednesday as Dara O’Shea picked up a serious injury for the Republic of Ireland.
The young defender went from being slapped by Cristiano Ronaldo to nearly being stretchered off the field within minutes.
It was a bad ankle twist after making a sliding tackle that caused the blow, and Valerien Ismael will be demanding updates as soon as possible.
Joe Chapman has shared more on Thursday, insisting that an update is expected at some point today.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, the journalist shared that O’Shea is likely to play no more part during this international break.
“Waiting to learn a little more on how Dara is doing, could be an update from Ireland today,” he wrote.
“Likely to miss the remaining ROI qualifiers in the coming days.”
Ismael will have everything crossed that this one isn’t too serious.
The Baggies could have serious issues should it be, with Matt Clarke already sidelined until October after his blow at Blackburn.
That would leave Cedric Kipre to go in and no senior options behind him should O’Shea also be forced into the medical room.
The Irishman has arguably been the standout player at the start of this Championship season, and it would be a cruel blow.
With plenty of time left during this international break, hopefully missing the remaining games and rest will have the enforcer raring to go when the domestic club season returns.
