West Brom confirm their starting XI against Birmingham

West Brom have confirmed their starting XI for this evening’s Championship clash against Birmingham City.

The Baggies have made two changes from the side that lost 1-0 to Stoke City before the international break.

Sam Johnstone starts in goal.

In front of him is a back three that consists of Matt Clarke, Kyle Bartley, and Semi Ajayi.

This means that Conor Townsend moves back to left-wing-back, and Darnell Furlong plays at right-wing-back.

There had been an injury concern over Alex Mowatt, but he is fit and takes his place alongside Jake Livermore.

Upfront, Karlan Grant plays on the left, while Matt Phillips is back in the side on the right.

Callum Robinson starts upfront after five goals over the international break for the Republic of Ireland.

Interestingly, record signing Grady Diangana isn’t even in the squad with the ex-West Ham winger presumably injured.

Strong team selected.

Valerien Ismael’s side can jump to the top of the league tonight if they manage to beat the Blues, and this is a strong side from Ismael.

It is brilliant to see Clarke back, and it is also a huge relief to see Mowatt start after a sensational start to the season.

Upfront Robinson should be full of confidence after a brilliant international break, and we would hope that he can find that goalscoring form for his club.

On the bench, the Baggies can call on Jordan Hugill, Adam Reach, and Jayson Molumby if things start to go wrong.

However, we have every confidence that the Baggies are going to get back to winning ways tonight under the lights at the Hawthorns.

It should be a great game and we can’t wait for it to get started.

In other West Brom news, a Birmingham City Super Fan has had his say on the match tonight.
