West Brom have to give Reyes Cleary a first-team chance
West Brom can’t ignore Reyes Cleary for much longer, and it is definitely time for him to be given a first-team chance.
The 17-year-old scored yet another goal for the Baggies Under-21s on Monday night, proving that he could be ready for the step up.
So far this season, the striker has scored 12 goals for Albion’s youth teams, which is a ridiculous record, and it is no wonder that big European clubs are looking at him [Daily Mail].
Now, he is very young and raw, but that explosiveness and unpredictability could be exactly what Valerien Ismael’s side need right now.
The goals have dried up quite dramatically in recent weeks, and the Baggies are looking short upfront.
Cleary could be the answer to their woes.
Also, if they aren’t going to play him in the first team, you would think he might be more inclined to leave if a big European club comes in for him.
If he is in the first-team squad, he might decide to stick around and play for the Baggies.
It would be a risk throwing him in, but with Callum Robinson and Jordan Hugill struggling for goals, would it be the worst thing in the world to give him a chance?
You would have to say that it wouldn’t, and Baggies fans would probably love to see some young blood coming through and playing.
He has also been described as “excellent” by Under-18s manager Peter Gilbert, and given the way Albion are playing, this could be the perfect time to unleash him and scare a few Championship defences [West Brom website].
