View: Fabrizio Romano transfer update ideal for West Brom
West Brom have been handed a major boost in their bid to sign Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi as Russian club CSKA Moscow have been ruled out of the race.
Reports from Italy [Corriere Della Sera] have linked the Baggies with a move for the 27-year-old who has featured just seven times for the Italian side this season.
Fabrizio Romano, however, has provided an update on the situation today [18 January] which had seen CSKA Moscow enter the conversation.
“Vedat Muriqi won’t join CSKA Moscow, Lazio director Igli Tare says: “It was a fake news. He’s not joining CSKA Moscow”. He tweeted from his personal account.
There is a lot of hope to be taken from Tare’s comments here for West Brom fans.
He only states that he won’t be joining CSKA Moscow here and doesn’t go on to say he isn’t leaving which suggests the door is still very much open for Valerien Ismael.
Whether he will go all out to try and sign the Kosovan international is another question entirely having already purchased Daryl Dike from Orlando City in his position this month.
A Muriqi and Dike front two could be a recipe for Championship destruction if both can hit the form that they are capable of before the season is over.
It would be a much-needed recipe too with the Baggies now firmly out of the automatic promotion race unless they can find some form from somewhere.
The 1-0 defeat to QPR on Saturday did nothing to ease the wounds as West Brom’s hopeless run in front of goal continues.
Whether Muriqi is the answer is unknown, but he is surely as good an option as any already at the Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, Ismael has shared of the imminent return of this Baggies favourite.
