West Brom not signing out-of-form Yokuslu a wise move

West Brom are not interested in making a move for former Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuslu this summer, according to the Express and Star.

The Baggies are in the market to sign a player to strengthen their midfield ahead of the next campaign.

The 28-year-old joined West Brom on loan in January 2021 from Celta Vigo where he had a mixed time.

There were suggestions that the club might opt to sign the Turkey international who is without a club this summer as his contract with the Spanish side came to an end.

Not a Good Fit

The signing of Yokuslu would have not been a good move for Steve Bruce because the player isn’t in the best of form as we have seen at Celta Vigo and Getafe in the recent past.

As West Brom have the ambitions of returning to the Premier League, signing an out-of-form player would be the last thing they would want.

During his loan move at the Hawthorns in 2020-21, the 28-year-old played only seven games for the club where he impressed the West Brom fans with his trickery and movement.

Despite that, he didn’t bring any kind of an impact that he had shown during his domestic career in Turkey and Spain, respectively.

The last 12 months have been difficult for Yokuslu as he played a total of 605 minutes of football all season [Transfermarkt].

Even though Bruce would’ve gotten the 28-year-old as a free agent, there are definitely better options in the market than the former Celta Vigo midfielder for West Brom to consider.

In other West Brom news, Zak Delaney could be heading for a permanent move away from the club to Inverness.
