West Brom don’t waste any time as Eseosa Sule deal completed as striker arrives from Celtic – Sky Sports

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

West Brom haven’t wasted any time in identifying and signing Eseosa Sule after the young striker completed a move from Celtic this week, according to Kevin Campbell.

Sule, 16, has swapped Glasgow for the Black Country with the teenager’s agent confirming the transfer via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (21 February).

Darren McBay revealed the transfer had been completed and also shared images of Sule inside The Hawthorns holding the 2022/23 West Brom home shirt.

West Brom’s academy has seen numerous highly-rated strikers come and go over the years with none really amounting to more than what Saido Berahino did in a brief spell.

Campbell believes that sometimes clubs have to look outside of their own academy to land fresh new talent, as has been the case with Scottish-Nigerian youngster Sule.

Speaking to West Brom News about the deal, Campbell said: “Football clubs are after quality youngers whether it’s from your academy or elsewhere.

“It’s just a matter of who the manager fancies, that’s the bottom line.

Football clubs are trying to bring in better talent all the time so it’s not a slight on West Brom’s academy.

They’ve just recognised somebody they can get.

Football clubs are not going to waste time, they’re going to get them if they can.”

West Brom’s academy has been among the best in the country in recent years.

However, there were fears last year that the club’s academy could lose the Category One status that sees the Under-21s play in Premier League 2 [Training Ground Guru].

In other West Brom news, Albion fans have been urged to look at the bigger picture when it comes to this first-team player.
