Sky Sports pundit urges West Brom to sign Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Campbell believes that a reunion for Sam Johnstone at West Brom would be a good move should they secure promotion.

The England international left the Baggies as he wanted to play in the Premier League, but has not got enough game time at Selhurst Park.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on 19 March that West Brom were keen on capitalising on this and bringing him back to the Hawthorns if they secure promotion.

When asked about this move, Campbell, a Sky Sports pundit, exclusively told West Brom News, “I think Sam Johnstone is a good goalkeeper. They know him and it’s probably the opportunity to be able to resign him is solely a monetary one.

That’s probably why they had to get rid of him. But, you know, if you get back up and obviously the money is there, then you, you’ve got to strengthen and that may be is a position that they’re looking at to strengthen.

Sam Johnstone obviously knows the club and doesn’t need to see himself in because he already knows the club. So I think that could be a good move.

It has been reported that Sheffield United are also keen on signing the 30-year-old this summer.

Johnstone appears unlikely to capture the number one role at Palace with Vicente Guaita making that position his own.

Nixon claims that any club looking to sign Johnstone will have to shell out £6million over the coming months.

In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened and may even leave for free.
