David Prutton predicts outcome of West Brom v Blackpool Championship clash for Sky Sports

David Prutton has backed West Brom to beat Championship strugglers Blackpool 2-1 when the two sides face off on Tuesday evening.

The Baggies head to Bloomfield Road with the top six firmly in their sights after their impressive away win against Stoke City.

The Sky Sports pundit has predicted the good form to continue, with West Brom’s “quality” likely to give them the edge in the North West.

“Blackpool gave themselves a slither of hope with that win against Wigan on Saturday, but they are probably looking at three wins out of their last four at least to have any chance of staying up,” said Prutton (Sky Sports, 18 April).

“And on Tuesday night they are up against a West Brom side still fighting to get into the playoffs, who possess a lot more quality in their side. Away win. 1-2.”

Must win

This is exactly the type of game the Baggies have to be winning if they want to finish in the top six. Blackpool are struggling for points and are there for the taking if Albion perform as they did on Saturday. They badly needed a result and the players turned up.

Carlos Corberan desperately required the win against Alex Neil’s side. West Brom have received plenty of criticism in recent weeks, and rightly so. There was a chance for the Baggies to break into the top six, which was passed up over the Easter weekend.

However, there is still time for Albion to respond. An impressive run of form during the run-in could see a playoff place secured and considering the uncertainty behind the scenes, it’s an outcome which simply has to happen. The riches of the Premier League would certainly make for a far healthier financial scenario at The Hawthorns.

Let’s hope for another positive result heading into Sunday’s fixture against Sunderland.

In other West Brom news, one senior player is not expected to return for the Albion this season in a huge blow to manager Corberan.
