Hal Robson-Kanu reacts to West Brom incident v Norwich live on Sky

Hal Robson-Kanu cast doubt on the decision to award a free-kick that led to West Brom equalising in their Championship clash against Norwich City on Saturday evening, live on Sky Sports.

From the resulting set-piece, Connor Townsend produced a stunning finish from just outside the box, into the goalkeeper’s top right corner.

West Brom went on to secure a valuable 2-1 result, meaning their playoff push will go to the final day of the season with other games still needing to go their way.

Robson-Kanu was really unsure about this call that went in the Baggies’ favour, from referee Bobby Madley.

“I think that’s a difficult one,” he said.

“He’s (ref) not got a bad angle but you could actually give it to Norwich, it’s so controversial.”

Job done, pressure off

Townsend took full advantage, and West Brom went on to win the game, meaning that they still can grab a top-six finish when many thought it was unlikely.

Ahead of the final day of the regular season on Monday 8 May, Carlos Corberan’s side are in eighth place, two points behind Millwall in sixth.

As well as the Lions, Sunderland and the Baggies will contest the last playoff spot in their respective games.

In a trip to take on Swansea, all that West Brom can do is to win and hope the other two fixtures go in their favour but the pressure is now off, to an extent.

They have given themselves a decent chance at this late stage, having had to contend with a dreadful injury situation, with the mixed form reflecting the squad situation.

Corberan will be content to still have a chance to snatch an extension to the season, whilst there will also be frustration that they have come within a few points of guaranteeing a shot at Wembley for themselves.
