Dara O’Shea could cost Burnley £10m as West Brom exit talks held

The Express and Star’s Jonny Drury has claimed Dara O’Shea could be worth in the region of £10million as West Brom hold talks with Burnley over the defender.

The Telegraph’s John Percy reported on 21 June that the Premier League side are “hopeful” of agreeing on a fee which could provide a “huge” financial boost to the Baggies.

Writing on Twitter on Wednesday 21 June, Drury believes Albion’s need to sell the 24-year-old Irishman could work against them.

“Fans asking figures. Unknown as of yet. Looking at other deals involving similar players, you’d like to think Albion could get in the region of £10m in the current market,” he wrote.

“However, as we have said, Albion need to sell and that could go against them.”

Take that and run

West Brom would take £10million and run.

The biggest issue for the Baggies is that Burnley will be aware of their need to generate cash and could try and produce a lowball offer when it comes to the 24-year-old.

If £10million is his valuation, then anything under £7million would be a bad move for Albion. Another concerning aspect to consider is exactly where these funds are heading. Could Goughan Lai reveal himself to take yet more cash out of the club?

But, if O’Shea’s sale allows for West Brom to keep hold of some big-name players then it’s not a bad move. The likes of John Swift and Jed Wallace will be crucial next season. They came to the fore towards the end of the campaign and will be hoping to repeat the trick throughout the whole of next season.

One positive piece of news to keep hold concerns Carlos Corberan’s future, with Leeds United appearing to pull out of their pursuit of their former employee.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Campbell predicted some of the club’s youngsters will leave this summer.
