Carlos Corberan reacts to boardroom news at West Brom
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has admitted “it’s a pity” after chief executive Ron Gourlay’s departure, but has reaffirmed his confidence in managing director Mark Miles who has taken over – according to the Express and Star.
The manager’s statement comes following Gourlay’s departure as chief executive, as the two “enjoyed a strong relationship” according to the report.
Corberan went on to say: “I need to thank him for his determination to bring me here and he made me very proud to be here, we need to adapt to the new challenges and the new scenario.”

He was also full of praise for Miles, who will take on the responsibilities of the former chief executive, stating “Mark, for me, is very important because he is someone who knows the values of our club very well.
“He knows what it means to be a West Bromwich Albion fan and support the club.” These quotes are likely to please supporters, who are always keen to know that those at the top have their best interests in mind.

Important
For Corberan to speak so glowingly of the new chief executive is a very positive sign. A good connection, appreciation and support between all levels of the club is a good start when looking to build and be successful.
Despite rumours throughout the end of last season and the summer, it has become clear that the West Brom boss is happy at the club, with statements such as “he knows the values of our club” always a good thing to hear as a fan.
As a result of this good working relationship between the manager and chairman, Corberan has stated that Miles will support the work that he and Pearce are set to do, showing that the club is well connected between the management staff, recruitment team and boardroom, putting the Baggies in a good place to progress the club.
It will be very interesting to see how this affects the club both on and off the pitch moving forward.
