Ireland team news emerges for West Brom ace Jayson Molumby ahead of clash v France

West Brom midfielder Jayson Molumby is expected to start for Ireland against France on Thursday night (7 September), according to the Irish Daily Mail.

On page 55 of the newspaper’s print edition on 7 September, it predicted the 24-year-old to be partnered by Josh Cullen and either Jason Knight or Will Smallbone in the middle of the park.

The Irishman will be looking to help his country pick up a scalp in the grudge match at the Parc des Princes after losing two of their three opening 2024 European Championship qualifiers.

Good experience

There is no doubt that the game against France will provide a huge test for Molumby and the rest of the Ireland side on Thursday night.

But no matter what the scoreline is, the Albion midfielder will gain some good experience from the match in Paris that he can take forward with him.

He will be confident heading into the fixture after featuring in all six of the Baggies games this season as he looks to build upon a solid campaign last year [Transfermarkt].

Molumby has really nailed down a place in the Ireland starting lineup over the past year or so and he will be keen to show what he can do on the big stage, having played in the 1-0 home defeat against France back in March.

The opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world again will be an occasion the midfielder will relish and he’ll be hoping his side can come away with a surprise result this time around.

In other West Brom news, video footage has emerged showing why one player should have been sold over the summer.
