Club directors approve West Brom development today - Fabrizio Romano

Brighton directors approved the move to recall Jeremy Sarmiento from his loan spell at West Brom on January 1, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported the news after it was confirmed by both clubs that the Ecuadorian winger would be heading back to The Amex.

Of course, this is not the first time this has happened to the Baggies, with the same curse striking them with Harvey Barnes back in January 2019.

Writing on X, Romano said: "Brighton have recalled Jeremy Sarmiento from his loan spell at West Brom.

"21 appearances, 2 goals and time to return at Brighton for Sarmiento, as approved by club directors."

West Brom

Frustrating.

While not the end of the world, this is just another immediate concern that Corberan has to navigate.

Sarmiento only started seven games in the Championship, with 14 other appearances coming from the bench for his two goals at The Hawthorns.

But, with the injuries currently running through the squad and the likes of Grady Diangana heading off to the African Cup of Nations very shortly, this is not ideal.

West Brom will know they now need to move quickly to make sure they bring in one new face, if not two to strengthen their squad for this promotion push.

Not many backed the Baggies to be sitting fifth at this stage of the season, and January can either make or break your chances of promotion to the Premier League.

This news means the month hasn't exactly started well, but your fortunes can soon turn around with some smart business of your own - bring it on.
