Carlos Corberan makes Jed Wallace call, John Swift returns in eight changes – Confirmed West Brom XI v Blackburn Rovers

Carlos Corberan has made eight changes to his West Brom starting XI for the Baggies Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 13 January.

The Albion boss has rung the changes from the FA Cup third-round win over Aldershot Town, with Alex Palmer replacing Josh Griffiths between the posts, with Darnell Furlong, Cedric Kipre and Conor Townsend all returning ahead of him.

John Swift returns to the midfield having recovered from an injury to feature alongside Alex Mowatt and Okay Yokuslu, with Nathaniel Chalobah and Fenton Heard both dropping to the bench.

In attack Brandon Thomas-Asante returns in place of Daryl Dike – named among the substitutes alongside Jed Wallace, who is fit enough to make the squad but not ready to feature from the start.

Back to winning ways

The FA Cup third round came at a perfect time for West Brom as it finally afforded Corberan the chance to rest and rotate his side after a busy festive period in which the Baggies had to contend with more than their fair share of injury issues.

While the performance against Aldershot was excellent, Albion were always expected to claim all three points against such low-level opposition. Now they have to back up that cup display with another impressive period in the league against Blackburn.

West Brom

Albion’s last Championship clash saw them lose away to Swansea and they have to get back to winning ways in the league if they want to maintain their hopes of a top-six finish. The battle at the top of the table is as tight as ever in the Championship and West Brom need to pick up every point they can.

With a few stars making their return from the treatment table, the Baggies should have more than enough to claim all three points at The Hawthorns. Hopefully, they’ll avoid any slip-ups and carry on their domestic form.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are in advanced talks to sign Bristol City captain Andi Weimann
