West Brom could reignite Jonathan Panzo interest as Fabrizio Romano drops January transfer update
West Brom could reignite their interest in Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo at The Hawthorns in January after Fabrizio Romano shared a new update on his future.
Panzo was recalled from his loan spell at Cardiff City on 15 January, as confirmed by the club’s official website, and Romano claimed there are clubs keen on signing him already as he will depart Forest again in January.
This news emerged just days after Carlton Palmer told Football League World [12 January] that West Brom were among the clubs interested in signing Panzo during the summer transfer window.
Given the financial restrictions West Brom are facing as things stand, and the need for incoming back-up options in the January transfer window, it has been widely reported that the club will work with loan deals and possible free transfers to bring players in.
It seems in all likelihood that any deal for Panzo to depart the Premier League outfit again in January would be on loan, similar to his deal with Cardiff which was initially designed to get him first-team football in the Championship.
However, Panzo had made just four appearances in the Championship for the Bluebirds before Forest triggered their option to recall him, with all four of those appearances coming from the bench as he averaged just 22 minutes per game in the league.
Cardiff boss Erol Bulut hit out at the defender on 3 November [Wales Online], claiming he was not fit enough to feature in his team when he arrived in South Wales, and was then pushed further down the pecking order by the form of the club’s other options.

However, a successful loan spell at Coventry City last season saw Panzo help the club to finish as runners-up in the playoff final, losing to Luton Town on penalties, and the form he showed in his time at the Sky Blues could lend itself to the Baggies this season.
In other West Brom news, a Baggies loanee has said he wanted to leave.
