West Brom full takeover to be done in weeks amid Shilen Patel development at The Hawthorns
West Brom are edging closer to a takeover that is now expected to happen in the coming weeks as US businessman Shilen Patel remains the front-runner to take control, according to Mail+.
The newspaper shared via their website on 28 January that, while Patel is still thought to be the front-runner, doubt and worries will remain at The Hawthorns until the deal is confirmed.
It is also said that it had been the dream to have the Guochuan Lai era ended before the FA Cup clash with Wolves, but it will now take slightly longer than hoped.
Light at the end of the tunnel
After a long period of uncertainty about the ownership situation at West Brom, with concerns mounting over the financial situation particularly when the parachute payments from the Premier League were cut off in the summer, there now looks to be light at the end of the tunnel.
There is still no guaranteed timeframe in place for the takeover to be rubber-stamped by the relevant parties, but the expectation that it will be completed within the coming weeks will prove a huge boost at The Hawthorns.
Patel’s potential takeover will finally see an end to the Lai era and finally offer hope of a more steady future after the turmoil of recent times. It seems that a touch more patience will be required in the meantime.

Any concerns, however, will be put aside for now as Albion face Wolves in the FA Cup on 28 January, and while there may have been hope the takeover would have been completed before the game, attention will now turn to the derby.
