Alvin Martin has slated Ipswich Town for their defending leading up to John Swift's goal during the 2-2 draw with West Brom on Saturday 10 February.

Kieran McKenna has a very particular way of playing, as do many managers in the Championship. With the majority of possession throughout most games this season, passing out from the back is a very important aspect of their play.

It looked to have done more bad than good against the Baggies, however, as Swift took advantage of Marcus Harness being dispossessed deep inside the Ipswich half before burying a shot into the corner to give West Brom the lead.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Saturday (10 February, 2:09pm), the former West Ham defender said: "They were trying to play out from the back again, Ipswich. The ball played into Harness, midway in his own half, was asking a lot of him.

"He was under pressure, dispossessed, and from that moment, they were always in trouble."

With a late equaliser from Omari Hutchinson, it may seem like a point won for Ipswich. But, considering their faults in the lead-up to West Brom's second goal, it could also feel like two points lost.

Minus their own downfall at the back, and in their tactics, Hutchinson's last-gasp goal could have sealed a very important win for the Tractors Boys. Instead, the points are split and many frustrations are present.

Also, not enough is being said about West Brom's actions in the lead-up to the goal. Carlos Corberan will be proud of his players for the way they pressed one of the most formidable teams in the Championship this season, stealing the ball in a dangerous area and making sure to punish the error.

It could have been very easy for heads to drop after the departure of Daryl Dike. However, Swift, who replaced the American forward, took it upon himself to fire his side ahead and nearly claim the win for the Baggies. It was a superb finish from the midfielder.
