Andi Weimann slammed live on BBC after what he did in West Brom draw v Hull City at MKM Stadium
Peter Swan slammed West Brom forward Andi Weimann for his “poor” miss at the end of the 1-1 draw against Hull City.
January loan signing Weimann wasted a late opportunity to snatch all three points for Albion in Saturday’s (24 February) game at MKM Stadium.
Weimann put his head in his hands after missing the one-on-one with Ryan Allsop, as he failed to clip the ball over the Hull goalkeeper.
Covering the game for BBC Radio Humberside [24 February, 2:24pm], former Hull player Swan said: “That was poor from Weimann.
“He was maybe trying to dink it over the goalkeeper, but he just passed it back to him.”
West Brom dig deep to draw at Hull City
Weimann should have been rounding the goalkeeper rather than trying the audacious chip, which in the end he failed to pull off.
However, Albion can be happy enough with a point that consolidates their position in the top six of the Championship.
Hull are serious play-off contenders, but this draw on Humberside ensures they remain at arm’s length for now.
Liverpool loanee Fabio Carvalho scored a superb goal for the hosts, but Darnell Furlong’s downward header cancelled that out before half-time.
There were fewer chances in the second half prior to a pretty frantic finish in which both teams could have found a winner.
Had Weimann converted, Albion would have been in an even stronger position. As it is, though, supporters can still be proud of the performance.
With a big match against Coventry City next up, let’s just hope any chances of this nature are put away in that one.
