Carlos Corberan must rethink West Brom starting XI after what Andreas Weimann did

West Brom are currently in brilliant form, losing just one match to Southampton in their last 10 Championship fixtures as they eye the playoff spots.

Carlos Corberan has continued to get the best out of his attackers, with Jed Wallace, Tom Fellows and Grady Diangana continuing to impress, and Celtic loanee Mikey Johnston hitting the ground running.

Andreas Weimann is another January loanee who has provided a lot of attacking prowess since joining from Bristol City but has been in and out of the Baggies lineup, only making the starting XI three times.

Will Carlos Corberan unleash Andreas Weimann for West Brom?

The Austrian international is a proven talent in the Championship, boasting 51 goals and 29 assists in 216 appearances for the Robins, and continuing that form at The Hawthorns.

Having registered two goals and two assists since arriving at the club, Weimann has the potential to have an important say in West Brom’s Championship campaign but continues to be deployed from the bench.

However, his exploits on the international stage, as Austria defeated Slovakia 2-0, would suggest that Corberan needs to rethink his starting XI ahead of the season’s run-in.

After Christoph Baumgartner opened the scoring after six seconds, Weimann rounded off the friendly win, firing home a well-worked team goal, scoring his second-ever goal for his country.

Can the Baggies claim promotion back to the Premier League?

With only eight matches of the Championship season remaining, West Brom will be keen to keep their place in the playoffs, though Norwich City, Hull City and Coventry City remain on their heels.

Still yet to play the likes of Preston North End, Sunderland and Leicester City, Corberan’s squad have a job to do if they are to finish the season with a chance at claiming promotion back to the top tier of English football.

West Brom’s attack will have a huge impact in the upcoming fixtures, and some will hope that Weimann is given more of a chance by Corberan, especially after netting on international duty.
