West Brom: Andreas Weimann lets Carlos Corberan down after what happened v Millwall
Much of the West Brom squad will be disappointed with their performances against Millwall, as John Swift helped the Baggies salvage a 1-1 draw on Friday (29 March).
With Norwich City overturning a 1-0 deficit to defeat Plymouth Argyle and claim all three points, the gap between the two sides in the playoffs spots has been closed to just three points.
One player who will need to question himself after the draw at The Den is Andreas Weimann. Despite scoring on international duty, the Austrian was hooked at half-time, and rightly so.
Andreas Weimann fails to impress in West Brom chance v Millwall
With Brandon Thomas-Asante and Tom Fellows dropped to the bench, much to the frustration of some fans, Weimann was handed his third start in the last eight matches.
The 32-year-old, utilised as an out-and-out striker, had the opportunity to prove himself to the Albion faithful, having come off the bench for Austria against Slovakia and netting within 12 minutes of being on the pitch.
Carlos Corberan will have been far from pleased with the player, though. Despite maintaining a pass accuracy of 80 per cent, Weimann only attempted five passes and made six touches. [FotMob]
It was clear that the forward’s influence on the game was not what was needed for the Championship clash, especially when it came to getting involved in the final third.
Weimann could only win 33 per cent of his aerial duels. Compared to his last start against Huddersfield Town, registering 100 per cent ground duels and 100 per cent aerial duels won, the player and manager will be greatly disappointed. [FotMob]

Boasting a top 86 percentile ranking for aerial battles, as per FBref, Corberan will have hoped for much more influence in the final third as Millwall suppressed West Brom’s attack, but the Austrian was subpar.
The 32-year-old, on loan from Bristol City, is highly unlikely to be started against Watford on Monday 1 April and will need to win Corberan’s trust back before he makes the starting XI again.
In other West Brom news, a Baggies loanee is contemplating a permanent Hawthorns exit.
