Ethan Ingram can establish himself at West Brom after new contract offer
Ethan Ingram should aim to establish himself as a member of the West Brom senior squad next season after being offered a new contract.
The 21-year-old was named on the club’s retained list along with fellow young players Ted Cann, Reyes Cleary, Fenton Heard, Evan Humphries, Deago Nelson, Adriel Walker and Archie Kirton.
They were among the lucky few to avoid being named on a lengthy released list which included 14 players, including eight youngsters.
Can Ethan Ingram break into the West Brom first team?
Part of the appeal of retaining Ingram is that he could provide an in-house solution to a problem position in the Baggies’ senior squad.
First-choice right-back Darnell Furlong was the club’s most-used outfield player this season, featuring for a whopping 4,208 minutes in 49 appearances across all competitions.
His supposed cover option, Pipa, on loan from Ludogorets, mustered just 340 minutes over 15 appearances in the same timeframe.

Ingram, however, enjoyed a fruitful loan of his own at League Two side Salford City. Though the team endured a difficult campaign, finishing 20th, the 21-year-old racked up 26 appearances across all competitions and gained valuable experience.
While the young full-back does not look ready to command a regular starting berth for the Baggies, a season as cover for Furlong could ease the burden on the 28-year-old and provide Ingram with valuable experience.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are readying a move to sign Josh Windass.
