Sky Sports share new Sorba Thomas to West Brom transfer update

West Brom are weighing up whether to step up their interest in Huddersfield Town attacker Sorba Thomas, according to Sky Sports.

The sports broadcaster reported on Thursday (18 July, 2:25pm) that the Baggies have yet to make an offer for the 24-year-old Welshman, who was relegated to League One with The Terriers.

The winger has previously worked with Carlos Corberan during their time together at the John Smith’s Stadium and could be available for £1million this summer [The Sun].

West Brom to decide on Sorba Thomas transfer

The 24-year-old is a seasoned Championship-level player, having made 125 appearances for the Terriers, with a six-month loan at Blackburn Rovers sandwiched in between.

Thomas has been one of the most consistent playmakers in the division over the last three seasons, notching 28 Championship assists in 124 matches.

With Huddersfield now relegated to League One, many players will want to find other clubs and Thomas certainly has the ability to play in a higher division next season.

He is also a fully-fledged Wales international, boasting eight caps for his nation between 2021 and 2023 but has fallen out of favour in recent months due to a fall-off in form.

Last term, Grady Diangana was the Baggies’ leading playmaker with eight assists, followed by Alex Mowatt and Jed Wallace with five each.

With the attacking talent of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Josh Maja, Tom Fellows, John Swift, Diangana and Wallace, Thomas will be able to provide the necessary deliveries to boost the number of goals at The Hawthorns.

The Welshman’s versatility is also a huge plus, with an ability to play anywhere across the front line and down the right flank, even being known to deputise at right-back.

While £1million is a lot to splash on a relegated player, he could be worth every penny if Corberan can utilise him correctly. Given their history, he most likely can.
