Gardner-Hickman in talks to join Birmingham after West Brom sale earlier in 2024

West Brom academy product Taylor Gardner-Hickman is in talks over a move to Birmingham City, according to Bristol Live.

The online outlet reported on 22 August that Blues could land the 22-year-old on a cut-price deal from Bristol City, although no agreement has been reached yet.

The versatile midfielder left the Hawthorns permanently for Bristol in January 2024 and already looks set to be on the move again.

The Baggies academy product could now be registered at St Andrew’s in time for their next game against Leyton Orient on Saturday (24 August).

Ex-West Brom star Taylor Gardner-Hickman set for Birmingham City

Gardner-Hickman was a regular feature once he broke into the first team at West Brom before making a move to Bristol City.

That move was made permanent in the most recent winter window but doesn’t appear to have gone to plan for either party.

Now a move to League One appears to be likely, in a deal with one of Albion’s local rivals in a move which may not go down well with supporters.

After 60 appearances at the Hawthorns [FotMob], it is clear that the loyalty from that hasn’t extended into his upcoming transfer.

In fairness to the Englishman, the Blues are one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Championship having put together an exciting squad across the window.

It could be said that the Baggies could show an interest in their former player but with Uros Racic coming in, the academy product may not be needed.
