Ipswich Town make transfer decision on West Brom ace Tom Fellows as deadline looms
Ipswich Town are not pondering a deadline day move for West Brom ace Tom Fellows, according to Nizaar Kinsella.
The BBC journalist posted on X (29 August) to report that while Ipswich remain keen on signing a new forward before the window closes, 21-year-old Albion winger Fellows is not a player they’re interested in.
Fellows’ early-season form at The Hawthorns has seen Ipswich and other Premier League clubs enquire about signing him, with the Tractor Boys reportedly having an £11million bid rejected by the Baggies [The Sun, 28 August].
Tom Fellows transfer future still not certain at West Brom
While Ipswich may seemingly be out of the running to sign Fellows before the transfer window slams shut on 30 August, significant interest remains from other top-flight sides in the Albion flyer.
The Baggies must be wary of improved offers from the likes of Everton and Southampton in particular, with the latter having reportedly seen a £10m bid of their own knocked back by The Hawthorns hierarchy [John Percy, 27 August].
Selling Fellows under any circumstances given how integral a role he now plays in Carlos Corberan’s side would be a huge dampener on what’s largely been a successful transfer window for the Baggies overall.
The impending return of Mikey Johnston on a permanent deal from Celtic has understandably been praised to the hilt by Albion fans, but losing Fellows simultaneously would be a massive caveat.
With Johnston and Fellows firing on either flank, Corberan’s team are well-placed to mount another serious promotion bid, meaning the club must do all they can to retain the 21-year-old this summer.
In other West Brom news, one Championship side has made a seven-figure transfer bid for one of Carlos Corberan’s key players.
