Birmingham lose v Walsall – Watch as Reyes Cleary does Boing Boing West Brom celebration

West Brom loanee Reyes Cleary has been spotted goading Birmingham City fans after scoring the winning penalty against them in the EFL Trophy for Walsall.

The 20-year-old forward tucked home the decisive spot-kick as the Saddlers defeated Birmingham 4-3 in the shoot-out after a 1-1 draw in their Southern section Group A match at St Andrews on 3 September.

Cleary, who joined Walsall on a season-long loan from The Hawthorns on 20 August, marked his penalty for the Saddlers with a celebration familiar to Albion fans, directly in front of the Blues fans.

DOOD shared the footage on X (3 September) after spotting Cleary doing the ‘Boing Boing’ celebration, calling the on-loan Baggies striker a “geezer” for his actions.

Reyes Cleary proves to be hero for both Walsall and West Brom

A penalty to win an EFL Trophy group stage match may not be your typical dream at a new club, but Cleary’s contribution will certainly endear him to fans of both his current and parent clubs.

Coming on for his Walsall debut with just 21 minutes left of regulation time, Cleary was introduced with the Saddlers 1-0 up but saw Birmingham equalise through Christoph Klarer 15 minutes later.

Penalties came immediately after the full-time whistle, and Cleary was given an immediate baptism of fire; being selected as the fifth and potentially last player to take his kick.

With Walsall winning the toss to take their penalties first, the pressure was slightly higher by the time Cleary stepped up with the scores at 3-3, finding the bottom-left corner to give Walsall the advantage.

That put all the pressure on Birmingham striker Alfie May to level things up before going to sudden death, but Walsall goalkeeper Sam Hornby made the save to deny him and give the Saddlers the win.

With Hornby and Cleary, the heroes for Walsall, the Albion loanee will be hoping he’s soon given a chance to make his mark in League Two, but that celebration has certainly endeared him further to Baggies fans.
