Newcastle United sign Jayden Kouosso in brand new West Brom transfer
Jayden Kouosso has signed for Newcastle United after leaving West Brom, according to The Secret Scout.
The trusted X account reported [11 September] that the Milan-born midfielder was on trial with the Magpies, as well as Chelsea and Fulham last week, choosing a move to St James’ Park.
Kouosso moved to England at a young age, joining the Baggies, though the under-15s central midfielder has now joined Newcastle after eight years at The Hawthorns.
The youngster announced his departure via Instagram on Tuesday (10 September), writing: “I never thought this day would come but I announce with a heavy heart after eight years at the club that I have officially left West Brom.
“I would like to give a huge thank you to all the coaches and staff for pushing me to my limits year after year and all of the outstanding teammates throughout the years on the pitch. But I believe this decision was necessary and the story must continue. Thank you Baggies.”
West Brom lose academy star Jayden Kouosso to Newcastle United
The Baggies will be disappointed to see another academy star leave the club, especially after a summer of important departures, such as Brandon Thomas-Asante and Okay Yokuslu.
Of course, the pull of many Premier League teams is often too difficult for young footballers to resist, forgetting about all the history on the walls at The Hawthorns.
Kouosso looks to be an extremely exciting talent, one that fans need to keep an eye on in the future. Hopefully, the Baggies do not regret being unable to keep hold of him, though.
Tom Fellows is the prime example of the clear path between academy football and first-team football under Carlos Corberan, with the winger now getting an opportunity with England Under-21s.
The Baggies continue to produce exciting talents but are unable to keep them at The Hawthorns, with Kouosso joining the recent list of academy departures in Zac Ashworth, Ethan Ingram and Mo Faal.
In other West Brom news, a Grady Diangana injury update has emerged ahead of the Portsmouth clash.
