Carlos Corberan buzzing as Caleb Taylor decision pays off away from West Brom
Carlos Corberan must be keeping a keen eye on his West Brom loanees as the 2024/25 campaign continues to unravel.
The Baggies are enjoying a tremendous start to the Championship season, claiming 16 points from their first six games, topping the table and blowing the promotion race wide open.
One of the biggest positives so far has been the number of goals being conceded, or the lack thereof, with only two goals bulging the back of their net.
Corberan, undoubtedly, has defensive trio Kyle Bartley, Semi Ajayi and Alex Palmer to thank for that, but 21-year-old defender Caleb Taylor will be hoping to get into the side at some point after graduating from the academy.
He is currently plying his trade in League One with Wycombe Wanderers, having been sent out on loan during the summer transfer window, and he has already impressed at Adams Park.
Caleb Taylor impresses away from West Brom
Taylor was handed his first Wycombe start on Saturday 21 September, deputising at centre-back in a 2-1 win over Cambridge United, which has seen the club shoot up to ninth in the league table.
The youngster was exemplary at the back, playing all 90 minutes, completing 81 per cent of his passes, winning 100 per cent of his tackles, 100 per cent of his ground duels and 86 per cent of his aerial duels [FotMob].
There is absolutely no doubt that Corberan will be buzzing with the decision to send him away from The Hawthorns to gain the necessary experience before becoming a regular in his team.
Taylor certainly has the potential to be a star for the Baggies. He has shown that on several occasions, most recently in his first start for the Wanderers. He just needs to show consistency now.
