West Brom ready loan-to-buy bid for Tom Cannon as £10m transfer news emerges

West Brom could rekindle their interest in Tom Cannon in January despite the Leicester City striker being on loan at Stoke City, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper reported via their print edition (13 October, pg 58) that Leicester have an option to cut short the 21-year-old’s loan at Stoke.

That has put Championship clubs on “red alert”, with West Brom among his admirers since the summer.

The Baggies and Sheffield United could make loan-to-buy bids for Cannon, who Leicester value at £10million.

West Brom to make another effort to bring Tom Cannon to the Hawthorns

West Brom missed out on Cannon’s signing in the summer as Stoke roped him in on a one-year loan deal.

However, a move to the Hawthorns could still be on the cards for the Ireland international, with the Baggies plotting another move in January.

There is no doubt about Cannon’s calibre as he netted four times in the Potters’ 6-1 win against Portsmouth on 2 October.

Carlos Corberan could do with such firepower up front, with second-choice striker Karlan Grant scoring just once in nine league games.

Josh Maja has been on the scoresheet seven times in as many games, but competition would only do the team good in their push for promotion.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Cannon has not scored in his four other league games for Stoke.

However, Stoke’s poor form of winning only one in five has not helped the youngster’s cause.

It now remains to be seen if the Baggies will push ahead with their interest in Cannon.

In other West Brom news, Dan Bardell believes Torbjorn Heggem will benefit from playing with Erling Haaland for Norway.
