Schumacher odds slashed to be new West Brom manager after Albion insider reveal
West Brom are well underway in their managerial search and Steven Schumacher has seen his odds for the job draw shorter.
As reported by DOOD on X [29 December], Albion have entered into talks with former Stoke City boss Schumacher, along with Swansea City manager Luke Williams to succeed Carlos Corberan.
Schumacher, 40, was sacked by Stoke in September and had previously held the post at fellow Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle between 2021 and 2023.
His odds with BetVictor, as per Oddschecker, have significantly shortened to 4/1, which ranks him second-favourite for the job behind Liverpool backroom coach John Heitinga at 2/1.
Chris Brunt took charge of what could be his final game in interim charge with a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.
West Brom developing talks with Steven Schumacher?
There could well be something bubbling away at The Hawthorns between the West Brom board and Schumacher, with his odds available on Saturday at a whopping 33/1 with SkyBet [Oddschecker].
Albion have shown themselves to be far from shy in their pursuit of Corberan’s successor, following their much-loved Spanish boss’ return to his homeland with Valencia.
There are big boots to fill following the manager’s exit to the Mestalla, and Shilen Patel and Andrew Nestor appear hellbent on securing their first choice, willing to pay compensation.

This openness allows a far bigger and better pool of managers to become potentially available to the Baggies, who have appeared to enquire about the availability of rival managers such as Blackburn Rovers’ John Eustace [DOOD on X, 28 December], who was raised in the West Midlands.
Schumacher would provide the added bonus of not commanding a payment up to seven-figures due to any employing clubs, and at 40 is a young and contemporary coach who could bring some exciting ideas to The Hawthorns.
