West Brom are interested in a possible loan deal for St Gallen striker Willem Geubbels, according to Sky Sports.

Sky reporter Lyall Thomas revealed (21 January, 12:18) that Albion have joined Leeds United and Norwich City in the race to sign the Frenchman in the winter transfer window.

Geubbels, 23, lists Lyon and Monaco among his former clubs and has fired eight goals in Switzerland so far this season as Tony Mowbray looks to add further firepower to his squad.

Mowbray is set to take charge of the Baggies for the first time in his second stint, away to Middlesbrough on Tuesday (21 January) in a potentially huge clash in terms of the top six race.

West Brom keen to add to Mowbray's attack

Mowbray has admitted this week he is keen to add reinforcements to his attacking options at West Brom with several players on the radar.

The Baggies have so far scored 33 goals in 27 Championship games but have relied heavily on the goals of Josh Maja and the assists of Tom Fellows.

Mowbray is aiming to bolster the forward output of a team he is eager to release from their shackles and play with a freedom reminiscent of his recent sides.

Geubbels has pedigree at big clubs and while he has so far not played in England, is used to the pressure of top divisions and could lend a serious hand for the remainder of the season at The Hawthorns.

The Albion need to tilt their habitual draws into wins, and a prime striker signing is the obvious key to achieving it.
