West Brom face ‘no-brainer transfer decision’ on Chelsea gem

West Brom have been linked with a swoop for Chelsea midfielder Harvey Vale – and it’s a signing that shouldn’t require second thought at The Hawthorns.

Now that West Brom have curtailed the managerial uncertainty with the appointment of Tony Mowbray, the transfer business can be ramped up amid links to Vale.

The Baggies are said to have made an approach for Vale [Mark McAdam], who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and has attracted interest from several Championship clubs.

It’s a signing that makes so much sense for several reasons, and is certainly worth persisting with as the winter transfer window goes on.

West Brom would be making a smart signing in Harvey Vale

Still only 21 years old, Vale has years ahead of him. With the right club, his development could reach an all-time high.

For the likely minimal finances involved in the deal, it’s a no-brainer for the Baggies.

The Chelsea academy graduate is as versatile as they come, having featured in just about every position other than in goal.

With 36 career appearances at attacking midfield, that appears to be his preferred position, and with questions to be had over the future of John Swift, it would make sense.

Vale has also featured many times as a left-winger and left-back, while also having made 10 appearances in the centre of midfield.

His most impressive spell in his short career so far has been with Bristol Rovers, where he registered two goals and five assists, with many of those appearances in the left-back role.

While it will be important for him to nail down a specific position, his versatility would undoubtedly aid West Brom going forward.
