West Brom transfer news as new striker update shared

West Brom are not close to signing a centre-forward in the winter transfer window, according to DOOD.

The Baggies’ insider revealed via their personal X account (27 January) that Albion are in active talks with strikers, but nothing is close yet.

Before the 3 February deadline, the West Midlands outfit have been tipped to sign a Premier League number nine on loan.

West Brom in desperate need of new striker transfer

The Black Country club are seemingly in desperate need of signing a centre-forward, considering the injury issues in attack.

Tony Mowbray took charge of his second game after his return to The Hawthorns dugout against Portsmouth, with Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace playing up front.

While the Baggies came away with an emphatic 5-1 victory at home on Saturday (25 January), there’s evidently a need for more options up front.

Josh Maja has been out for a considerable period after picking up an injury, and Albion now need someone else to rely on.

West Brom have counted on the Nigerian forward to find the back of the net consistently, but other players need to step up now.

Daryl Dike is another number nine who has had a torrid time with fitness issues at The Hawthorns, and it remains to be seen when the American will be back in action.

Devante Cole is a natural number nine Mowbray can count on, but it would be unfair to expect big things from the 29-year-old, who hasn’t started a single game for the West Midlands outfit in the Championship.

Who will the Baggies bolster their forward line with in the coming days? Only time will tell.
