Wolves fan shocks Jeff Stelling with Tony Mowbray and West Brom comment
Jeff Stelling was shocked about a Wolves fan wanting to see Tony Mowbray lead West Brom to Premier League promotion.
Mowbray discussed his bout with bowel cancer on talkSPORT on Tuesday (28 January), three days after leading the Baggies to a thumping 5-1 win against Portsmouth.
Stelling was blown away by what the veteran tactician said and went on to read some messages of support, including an unexpected one from a Wolves supporter, who dubbed the rival manager as a “legend”.
“Wow. What a story”, Stelling said on talkSPORT (28 January, 8:58 am).
“Honestly, not one word of criticism in any of the messages.
“A Wolves supporter has said ‘what a legend, fingers crossed for promotion for Tony and West Brom’. And that’s a Wolves fan.”
Tony Mowbray to lead West Brom to Premier League?
It would be the culmination of a fairytale story if Mowbray leads West Brom to Premier League promotion this season.
He did exactly that in his first stint as the Baggies manager, earning promotion with them in the 2007-08 season.
There would not be anything better for an Albion fan to see Mowbray beat cancer, seal an emotional return to The Hawthorns after 15 years and then take them to the top flight.
And there is no reason why that cannot be the case as the West Midlands outfit are currently placed fifth in the Championship after 29 games.
Although West Brom are 14 points behind the automatic promotion spots, they are well-placed to secure a playoff spot.

It is evident that Mowbray is determined to take Albion back to the Premier League as he is targeting a new striker before the winter transfer window closes on 3 February.
