Adam Armstrong transfer: EFL update amid West Brom, Southampton uncertainty
West Brom sent off all the relevant documents to ensure a loan deal for Southampton ace Adam Armstrong would get finalised, according to DOOD.
The Albion insider posted via X [4 February] that “everything was done” by 11:20pm on Monday (3 February) after a last-ditch attempt was made for West Brom to complete a deal [John Percy].
Neither club has yet to confirm the move, however, and DOOD explained that is down to EFL staff clocking off for the night.
“Right I actually don’t get the hold up,” DOOD posted.
“What I didn’t expect was the EFL to all finish work for the night and sod off home.
“So we’re waiting for them to check it all through this morning.”
West Brom wait on EFL clearance for Adam Armstrong transfer
Deadline Day proved to be fairly dramatic from Albion’s point of view, with Tom Fellows to Everton speculation dominating for most of the day.
Nothing happened in that regard, with Everton failing to come close to the Baggies’ valuation, though losing Alex Palmer to Ipswich Town was a major blow.
Should this deal for Armstrong go through, though, it will soften the blow somewhat. The Southampton attacker is a proven asset at this level, scoring 24 goals and assisting 13 two seasons ago.
While Armstrong has not matched those levels since, a temporary switch to The Hawthorns will provide him with a chance to kickstart his career under Tony Mowbray.
It is now a case of the EFL ratifying the move in order for both clubs to officially announce a deal, hopefully sooner rather than later.
