Karlan Grant update emerges ahead of West Brom game v Millwall

West Brom forward Karlan Grant was absent from the squad for the defeat against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.

The Baggies fell to a frustrating 2-0 defeat on 12 February after a Makhtar Gueye brace in the second half at The Hawthorns.

This dented Tony Mowbray’s side’s hopes of finishing ahead of Rovers as the Lancashire outfit moved one point ahead of the Baggies with the win in B71.

Albion were without Grant for the game which certainly did not help Mowbray’s attacking options against Rovers.

Karan Grant to miss West Brom v Millwall

The 27-year-old has been superb so far this campaign, scoring six and assisting two in the Championship after a rough spell in the Black Country in recent years, which resulted in him spending last term on loan at Cardiff City.

As a result, Grant has become an important cog in the machine at The Hawthorns but missed the clash against Blackburn.

It has now been reported by Steve Hermon via X (12 February) that the versatile forward was absent due to a chest infection.

Mowbray has since suggested that the versatile forward could be a doubt for the trip to Millwall on Saturday (15 February).

The decision over whether or not the former Charlton man will feature at The Den will now be down to the club doctor at The Hawthorns.

It will certainly be interesting to see what decision is made against the Lions as the West Midlands outfit look to get back to winning ways.

West Brom club doctor has Karlan Grant decision to make

With the threat of Adam Armstrong up front at The Hawthorns combined with Isaac Price behind him, the Baggies should have had enough against Blackburn.

It says a lot that both Mikey Johnston and Tom Fellows were hooked early on by Mowbray as the head coach looked for a solution.

On another day, that change could have been to see Grant come on to have the sort of impact he has made all season long.

With that being said, he will certainly be missed for the trip to face Alex Neil’s side if the club doctor is to make the choice not to allow him to feature in the capital.
