Lankshear anonymous in 4/10, MOTM gets 8/10 – West Brom player ratings v Millwall
West Brom had to settle for a point at The Den, with Millwall holding them to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Off the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Blackburn, West Brom had a chance to right their wrongs with an away encounter against the Lions.
The hosts took an early lead through Jake Cooper, with the Baggies unable to get to grips with the game early on as a result of the direct style of play adopted by Millwall.
An own goal from Joe Bryan gifted the Baggies a route back into the game but they failed to take advantage of it, with the game fizzling out in a 1-1 draw.
With a small minority of fans calling for Tony Mowbray to be sacked after the last defeat, this result will do little to change those opinions.
Here, West Brom News rates the performance of each Baggies star.
West Brom player ratings v Millwall
Joe Wildsmith – 6
Wasn’t really called into action many times in the game. Distribution was poor at times and had little chance with the goal, although there may have been a possibility for him to come and claim the cross.
Darnell Furlong – 5
Played a dangerous cross into the box that resulted in Bryan turning the ball into his own net. Passing throughout the clash was needlessly sloppy, granting possession straight back to the hosts on several occasions.
Semi Ajayi – 5
Looked clumsy at times on his return from injury and was beaten far too easily by Cooper for the opening goal. Passing was tidy but looked suspect defensively.
Torbjorn Heggem – 5
Similar to Ajayi, was suspect when it came to marking inside the penalty area. Tidy on the ball but failed to offer any real defensive solidity.
Callum Styles – 6 (for Holgate 70′)
Failed to stop the cross for the opening goal, which has been a concern that has lingered for some time at West Brom. Outside of that, he defended fairly well, winning his tackles and the majority of his duels.
Jayson Molumby – 7
Resolute in midfield for the Baggies as ever. Passing wasn’t as crisp as it usually is but his tenacity made up for that.
Ousmane Diakite – 6
Did little wrong in the game but didn’t stand out either. Showed some neat touches and was usually tidy on the ball. Certainly showed plenty of promising signs.
Grady Diangana shines for West Brom

Grady Diangana – 8 (for Dike 77′)
Caused a threat throughout the game and was very unfortunate to see his effort crash off the underside of the crossbar in the first half. Showed great creativity to release Furlong for the equalising goal and was the main attacking outlet all game. Diangana certainly has a big role to play for West Brom.
Jed Wallace – 5 (for Fellows 70′)
Failed to offer any real threat throughout the clash before his 70th-minute withdrawal.
Adam Armstrong – 6 (for Swift 77′)
Always looked to make something happen but very little paid off. Played some neat passes but nothing of much note.
Will Lankshear – 4 (for Grant 57′)
Through little fault of his own, Lankshear was just not in the game at all. Showed some nice examples of holdup play when the ball reached him but had no involvement other than the odd occasion he could do that. There is definitely more to come from Lankshear this season.
Substitutions
Karlan Grant – 5 (for Lankshear 57′)
Had no involvement after coming on.
Tom Fellows (for Wallace 70′)
Mason Holgate (for Styles 70′)
John Swift (for Armstrong 77′)
Daryl Dike (for Diangana 77’0
