West Brom fans hit back at ‘Delusional’ Junior Firpo comments after Leeds draw – ‘So odd’

West Brom supporters have been left scratching their heads after bizarre comments from Leeds United star Junior Firpo.

The Baggies secured a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Saturday to hang on to their spot in the Championship playoffs by a thread.

Tony Mowbray’s side had slightly less possession and overall shots but could have taken all three points with John Swift missing a golden chance early on.

Despite the fair result, the Dominican international made his bizarre frustrations clear in an interview with Sky Sports after the contest.

Firpo makes controversial comments after West Brom draw

Speaking after the contest, the 28-year-old was unimpressed with Albion’s approach to the clash.

The Whites star accused Mowbray’s side of adopting a negative approach and settling for a point after Darnell Furlong’s 39th-minute equaliser cancelled out his opener from a Joe Wildsmith howler.

He said: “They get the equaliser and then in the second half, there was just one team trying to get the win and that was us.”

West Brom fans livid with Firpo claims

Baggies supporters took exception to the claims on social media after the game, with many feeling that the comments were peculiar after a solid performance from the visitors.

Mowbray and his side will not care about the salty post-game comments from the Leeds man, they did their job and got a very good result against the champions-elect, it is not their fault that the Peacocks could not break them down.

The scoreline is even more impressive given the Whites’ home record, before the Albion draw, Daniel Farke’s side had dropped points in just three home league matches so far this season.

The point keeps The Hawthorns outfit in the playoff places on goal difference after Blackburn could only manage a draw with Norwich at Ewood Park.

The West Midlands club needs to take the momentum from this result against the league leaders into their next few games and increase their margin to the chasing pack.

Otherwise, their Premier League promotion dreams could be dashed before they even really get started if they fail to secure a playoff berth with 11 matches left to play until the season concludes.
