Mowbray shares Bartley and Fellows update as five West Brom players ruled out

West Brom will face Hull City at The Hawthorns on Saturday as they aim to extend their unbeaten run to six games in the Championship.

West Brom secured a 1-1 draw against third-placed Burnley last time out at Turf Moor, as Tony Mowbray’s side jumped to fifth-place in the Championship table.

Now, with the Baggies hosting Hull, they can strengthen their grip on the Championship play-off spot.

Their opponents won their most-recent clash at home against Oxford United as the Tigers hope to avoid relegation, creating a five-point gap to the drop zone.

West Brom team news vs Hull City

Mowbray provided an important squad update ahead of the clash against Hull.

Kyle Bartley and Tom Fellows missed out at Burnley because of injury and compassionate leave.

As shared by the Express & Star, the duo will be available for the match with Hull, as both trained ahead of the game. Bartley was left out of the squad as he had a swollen knee and Mowbray decided not to risk the experienced centre-back.

Mowbray said: “He [Bartley] trained today, so as long as there’s no reaction from that he will train tomorrow and he’ll have a fair chance of being involved at the weekend.

“He’s an important player for us, a big character and voice, fingers crossed he comes through the session, which he appeared to.

“Tom trained today, it was his first day back. I had a little chat with him and he seems fine, seems as if he’s putting himself forward for the weekend which is positive news for us.”

Five players unavailable for West Brom

January transfer window recruit, Tammer Bany, will be out for another week with a groin injury, while Darnell Furlong is still suspended after his red card against QPR last weekend.

The Baggies’ trio of Semi Ajayi, Jed Wallace and Josh Maja remain ruled out with a hamstring, calf and an ankle problem.

West Brom have faced numerous injury concerns throughout the season and having five players ruled out for their clash against the Tigers is another headache for Mowbray.

In absence of Furlong, Mason Holgate will be expected to deputise at the right-back, as he did for the second-half against QPR after Furlong’s send-off.

Despite a depleted squad, Albion will feel confident going into the game at The Hawthorns as Hull have lost all five of their clashes in the Championship at West Brom’s home.

It’s time to kick on and finish the season in style.
