Mowbray axes Will Lankshear – West Brom predicted XI v Coventry City

West Brom face a massive game on Friday as they travel to Coventry City in a game that could see them leapfrog back into the play-off spots.

Tony Mowbray’s side found themselves falling out of the top six after a recent dip in form, with the Sky Blues and Bristol City taking their place.

However, a 2-1 victory against Watford on Saturday (12 April) may have given the Baggies the momentum they need to get going again.

With three points separating the two sides in the table, the result of this game could prove to be crucial in the fight for a play-off finish this term.

Therefore, Mowbray will no doubt be racking his brains when it comes to how his side will line up.

Fellows ready for standout performance

Mowbray hasn’t had the smoothest of rides since his arrival at West Brom to replace Carlos Corberan.

It seems as though he struggles to know what his strongest starting lineup is at times but after getting back on track with three points, it would be surprising to see too many changes in the team.

With that in mind, Josh Griffiths is expected to retain his position between the sticks.

A defensive line-up of Darnell Furlong, Kyle Bartley, Torbjorn Heggem and Callum Styles is expected to remain in front of the goalkeeper.

The defenders showed a good account of themselves in the victory against Watford, making 46 defensive actions between them.

Keeping the line up the same at the back will surely ensure that the men can bring confidence into the performance, ready to build off what they did against Watford.

Isaac Price got 90 minutes under his belt against Watford and is likely to retain his position alongside Alex Mowatt in midfield.

The pair could be joined again by Tom Fellows, who showed exactly what he could do with the assists for both goals against the Hornets.

Fellows has been linked with a move away from The Hawthorns in the summer transfer window and that is likely to be the case if West Brom remain in the second tier. With that in mind, supporters will want to see Fellows at his best again, pushing their team back up the table.

Mowbray to call on Adam Armstrong

Both Mikey Johnston and Karlan Grant are expected to keep their positions in West Brom’s attack for the trip to Coventry, as they were both on the scoresheet to make the difference. The pair will be hoping for a similar impact on Friday.

Mowbray seems unsettled in his pick for who starts in the attack between Will Lankshear and Adam Armstrong.

Lankshear was chosen against Watford, although he struggled in the game with just two shots, two touches in the final third and losing the majority of his duels.

Therefore, in a game that has so much riding on it, the boss may choose to bring the more experienced Armstrong into the team.

Since making the move to the Black Country on loan from Southampton in January, the forward has two goals in 12, although he will certainly be looking to add to that between now and the end of the campaign.
