West Brom make new Adam Armstrong announcement

Adam Armstrong failed to have the desired impact in his loan spell at West Brom this season.

The Southampton loanee has disappointed at The Hawthorns since signing for the Baggies during the winter transfer window back in February.

West Brom endured a difficult season after losing Carlos Corberan around Christmas, with Tony Mowbray replacing him and failing before being sacked.

With that failure, the Baggies have already started their plans for the 2025/26 season, with three players leaving already.

West Brom make Armstrong transfer announcement

The centre-forward fell out of favour at West Brom after an underwhelming campaign, seeing only 166 minutes in his final five league games.

The Albion have now taken to social media to provide an update on the loanee at The Hawthorns, with his return to Southampton already confirmed.

On X, they announced: “Wishing Mason Holgate, Will Lankshear and Adam Armstrong all the very best as they conclude their loan spells at The Hawthorns.”

West Brom’s loanees disappoint

Armstrong, Lankshear and Holgate were all signed on loan this season for the Albion in hopes of strengthening their promotion ambitions.

All three loanees have disappointed this season

While loaned from Everton at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, Holgate has played only 727 more minutes than Armstrong due to poor performances that have seen him sit on the bench.

Tottenham youngster Lankshear was denied a fighting chance by Mowbray, playing a measly 346 minutes in the Championship since his loan in January.

Armstrong, perhaps the most disappointing of them all, contributed just six goals in 16 games for the Albion, despite starting most league matches.

However, with their departures, West Brom are desperately searching to improve their team next season, particularly in attack.

The Hawthorns has been linked with several names already, including Jamie Vardy, who recently announced his departure from Leicester City.

After missing out on Kilmarnock striker Bobby Wales, who is set for a move to Swansea City, the Baggies are going to have to increase their efforts if they hope to be a competitive force next season.
