Daryl Dike leads emotional messages as West Brom finalise multi-million exit

West Brom look set for a busy few days as transfer deadline day approaches on the horizon.

The Baggies have enjoyed a bright start to the new Championship season, and will be heavily focused on adding the finishing touches to their squad ahead of Monday’s imminent cut-off.

West Brom are on the verge of signing Alfie Gilchrist from Chelsea, with the young defender having reportedly undergone a medical on Friday morning.

The 21-year-old looks set to join Ryan Mason’s squad imminently, but it is potential departures that will be causing more concern for the boss at the moment.

Daryl Dike leads messages as Darnell Furlong departs

Darnell Furlong left West Brom to join Ipswich Town on Thursday, bringing his six-year stay in B6 to an end in the process.

The Baggies could earn up to £4million from the sale of the right-back, and appear to already have a replacement in the pipeline in the form of Gilchrist.

Furlong has not been the most consistent performer at times for Albion over the years, but he is a player who has contributed a lot to the club’s efforts during his stint at The Hawthorns.

The 29-year-old made 247 appearances in the famous blue and white stripes after his move from QPR back in 2019, and he has experienced plenty of highs and lows during that time.

He delivered an emotional message to Albion fans via his Instagram account after his departure was confirmed, stating that he will “Never forget this beautiful part of mine and my family’s lives!”

Messages of support have been flooding in from the likes of Daryl Dike, Mikey Johnston, Karlan Grant and Alex Mowatt.

Dike wrote in the replies: “All the best, you’ll be missed.”

West Brom face pivotal few days in the transfer market

Tom Fellows also looks set to leave West Brom ahead of Monday’s deadline, with a £10m fee agreed ahead of a move to Southampton.

With the Baggies now set to lose another of their key players, it looks likely to be a potentially pivotal weekend for their fortunes this season.

If they fail to secure high-quality replacements for the pair of departing stars, then it could be difficult for Mason and his men to maintain their promising start in the second tier.

However, if Bilkul can put their money where their mouth is and source some exciting additions, then West Brom can start to dream about big things this season.
