West Brom under financial pressure as they reluctantly accept bid - John Percy

West Brom are under financial pressure and have reluctantly accepted a £2million bid from Hull City for forward Brandon Thomas-Asante, according to John Percy.

Writing for The Telegraph on Tuesday (30 July) the journalist reported that Albion are feeling the financial squeeze and need to lower their wage bill to meet the Championship's financial rules.

Thomas-Asante is set to move to Hull within the next 24 hours, Percy added.

He will sign a three-year contract with the option of a fourth and is expected to be in attendance for Hull’s friendly against Fiorentina.

Losing Thomas-Asante is a blow for West Brom

Losing Thomas-Asante just weeks before the new Championship season is a big setback for West Brom and Carlos Corberan. Despite some criticism during his two years at the club, Thomas-Asante was their top scorer last season.

While it’s understandable that the Baggies would want to cash in with Thomas-Asante entering the final year of his contract, the fee seems disappointingly low.

It’s therefore surprising that the club didn’t push harder for a better deal. Thomas-Asante's departure leaves a significant gap in the squad, and West Brom must quickly find a replacement to stay competitive in the Championship.
