Nigel Quashie was absolutely furious with West Brom for their performance against Birmingham, admitting he left early during their defeat on Sunday.

The Baggies fell to a 1-0 defeat at St Andrew's to their local rivals, ending their hopes of a playoff finish for the season in one of the least inspiring performances of the season.

Former midfielder Quashie was at the game and took to his Twitter page to say the performance was 'nowhere near good enough', especially for a derby game.

"This was a derby game [West Brom] and football goes out the window," he said.

"There was 1 tackle I can remember on the 10th minute but that’s nowhere near good enough. An appetite to roll sleeves up get your foot in and fight will always mean something to these supporters!"

Quashie followed that statement up with some angry emojis and revealed that he left the first half ten minutes early to get food because of how bad the game was.

Poor

For all the progress that the Baggies had made under Bruce in the previous four games, that performance essentially sent them backwards with the fans.

There was no fight, no passion, no urgency and no quality within the squad and all hopes of a late charge for the playoffs have now firmly been thrown out of the window.

The fans aren't expecting trees to be ripped up and things to change overnight, but basic effort is a requirement and it simply wasn't there on Sunday.

For an ex-player like Quashie to publicly declare it as not good enough and admit the performance was so bad that he left early, that is a massive indictment on the current team.

Things need to change ahead of next season, and planning should begin for that in the next game against Bournemouth on Wednesday.
