WBA journalist shares chances of Premier League reversing new PPV deal
The Premier League caused outrage among West Brom and many other fanbases with their latest decision on broadcasting fixtures.
It was confirmed that games aren't shown live on Sky or BT, will be made available through pay-per-view for almost £15.
This was despite games during September all being shown for free for all Premier League fans, a severe difference to the new decision.
What are the chances of this being overruled?
The Athletic journalist for West Brom, Steve Madeley has claimed that he "half expects" the Premier League to rethink the PPV deal.
"I know the Premier League doesn’t tend to do humility but the reaction to this has been so angry I half expect a rethink," he shared on his personal Twitter account.
This deal is simply ridiculous, and it has to be changed by the Premier League and the 20 clubs, who actually voted in favour of this.
West Brom included voted for this change, and it clearly highlights the fact that clubs are putting money and income before their fans during the pandemic.
The Baggies could be used as a case study in the next month, with their next three games against Burnley, Brighton and Fulham all on PPV for a total cost of £45.
West Brom won't be on TV as much as the likes of Manchester City or Liverpool, and this deal clearly benefits the fans of those clubs more.
This needs to be changed so that fans of all 20 clubs are treated equally, or the outrage could grow even larger past October.
